Change of personal details after visa granted

This is an important area, and one that Down Under Visa can't monitor because most of our clients are not in touch with us anymore at this stage.
Once you have a Australian partner visa grant (partner visa, spouse visa, fiancee visa, prospective marriage visa) or even a tourist visa or child visa or any other visa type), and until you become an Australian Citizen, you still have some dealings with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP). This is particularly so if you are still the holder of a temporary partner visa (either a Subclass 309 or a Subclass 820). The Department still need to know where you are so that they can contact you, particularly when they are assessing you for a permanent visa.
And the other issue is that Australian Visas of all types are electronically linked to your passport! They are no longer an official-looking passport sticker. Stickers are gone now, and even when they still existed they were merely stickers. A VISA is the permission to enter Australia. It isn't a piece of paper or a sticker.
And at the airport, they will see the existence of your visa when they scan your passport and the details show up on the screen. So if you update your passport without telling them, then they won't know who you are. You won't get on the plane, and could miss your flight and find yourself stuck somewhere!
So, until you become an Australian Citizen with your own Australian Passport, you must inform the Department immediately if you:
- Update/change your passport
- Change your street address
How? With a Form 929!
You can download this from the Department website by clicking HERE
And you should fill it out and send to the NEAREST office of DIBP in Australia. You do not send to Manila, and definitely don't send it to us.

Who are Down Under Visa? Who is Jeff Harvie?
Jeff Harvie and the Down Under Visa team have been doing this for a lot of years! Down Under Visa have brought thousands of couples to Australia from South East Asia over the years. Mostly from the Philippines, but we help increasing numbers of couples where the visa applicant is from China, Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia. And what this means is we see a lot of success....and we also see failures when people go it alone after talking to their mate, or their relative, or that minimal-care-no-responsibility Facebook group run by Steve and Maribeth based on their own visa application! One application, and they feel qualified to advise others! It's not even LEGAL to do that!
Want to bring your sweetheart to Australia from The Philippines, China, Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia? Get a FREE VISA ASSESSMENT today! It will take you five minutes.
