• Subclass 820 Onshore Partner Visa

Partner Visas are for those who are in committed relationships with Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents and intend spending the rest of their lives together. These visas are for committed couples who are either married, intend to marry very soon, or are in genuine established de facto relationships. These are NOT for those couples who are not ready for commitment yet.      

ONSHORE Partner Visas are lodged INSIDE Australia, which means the visa applicant gets to wait inside Australia for the visa to be granted. Normally she will be inside Australia on a Visitor Visa (aka Tourist Visa). If the Partner Visa takes longer than the Tourist Visa stay period (which happens almost always) the applicant will go onto a Bridging Visa for the period of the visa processing. This enables the applicant to be lawfully in Australia and will not need to leave. They must be either:

1. Married, or
2. In an existing and established de facto relationship
