De facto relationships and partner visa applications
A common area and a common scenario amongst Down Under Visa clients, and a great deal of confusion about what you can do and what you can’t.
- Do we need to be under the same roof for 12 months?
- What if one of us is still legally married?
- Can we get a one year tourist visa and live together?
- Can we get a de facto partner visa so we can start a de facto relationship?
I’ve just made another page on the Down Under Visa website which should hopefully answer most of these questions and set the records straight about what a de facto relationship is and what is needed to get an Australian partner visa based on a de facto relationship. If this is an area that affects you, please read. And please feel free to share with friends and with social media.
