Can I get a refund of my visa fees if my Australian partner visa from Philippines is refused

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR THE ANSWER!

In this week’s episode of our Weekly Q&A one participant asked In the event of a partner visa refusal, will the Government refund my visa fees?

The exact question was:

When i have paid for a fiance visa that is $7000, if it’s not approved, do i get my money back or do i need to come up with another $7000 & hope for the best again?

Visa application charges for an Australian partner visa from Philippines to Australia are not cheap. $6,865.00 at this time. If the Embassy refuse the visa application, is it possible to have those fees refunded after? Or is the only option to pay the fee and to lodge an application again? How does it work?

You may cancel, John. Just contact the Department and tell them you wish to withdraw your sponsorship of the visa application and they will take it from there. They will not refund you though, sorry to say.
