What does a migration agent do? What SHOULD a migration agent do?
I’m sure that 99%+ of our new clients for Australian Visas are fairly blank on this one. You know what the doctor does, and you know what the butcher and the newsagent do, because you deal with them all the time. Visas are generally a once-in-a-lifetime thing for most people who get them, and a never-in-a-lifetime thing for the majority of people.
So we get people contacting us asking if we can look over their pre-prepared visa application and visa requirements, or if we can fix up a problem that they’ve caused for themselves on an application they’ve lodged by themselves.
Looking over pre-prepared applications to give the thumbs-up (or more likely thumbs-down!), no we can’t do. We don’t know the background, and it would be irresponsible of us to give any opinion on something we don’t know inside and out.
Others quite commonly think they need to fill out application forms, and sometimes come in with them already done. They’re usually surprised when we explain that we do everything other than the collection of your personal documents (which you must do yourselves, obviously). We assess you. We gather your essential information. We advise you on what we will need to make your application work. We make sure that what you’ve supplied us with (visa requirements, ie. documents and relationship evidence) is correct and of sufficient quality and quantity. We then fill out the forms, prepare and lodge the application. We then liaise with the Department up until the point that the visa is granted. All you need to do is follow directions.
Please have a look at our SERVICES PAGE on the Down Under Visa main website, and you’ll see what migration agents do, and more specifically what Jeff, Mila and Jeremy Harvie and staff do for clients.
